TREATMENTS

Aroma oil massage

Warm plant oil, long continuous strokes, medium to light pressure. The quieter counterpart to Thai massage, and the one to book if you would like to fall asleep.

How it differs from Thai massage

Aroma oil massage is worked on bare skin with warmed oil, using long gliding strokes that follow the muscle rather than pressing across it. There is no stretching and no joint work. Pressure is medium by default and can go lighter on request.

You undress to whatever level you are comfortable with and stay covered by a towel for the whole session — only the area being worked is uncovered at any moment. Because oil stays on the skin, the shower rooms matter here: they are separate for men and women, free, and stocked with towels.

Most guests who try both end up choosing Thai when their body feels stiff and aroma when their head does.

Book aroma oil if

  • You prefer smooth, continuous pressure to stretching.
  • You are not sleeping well and want something calming rather than energising.
  • Your skin is dry from air conditioning, aeroplanes or sea air.
  • Joint or back conditions make Thai stretching unwise.

Book Thai instead if

  • You want strong pressure and stretching.
  • You would rather stay dressed and skip the shower.

Aroma courses

Practical notes

The oil

We use a plant oil base with an aroma blend. Tell us at the desk if you have a nut allergy, sensitive skin, or a scent you would rather avoid, and we will adjust or use unscented oil. If you are pregnant, say so before booking — several essential oils are avoided in pregnancy.

Showers

Separate men's and women's shower rooms, free to use, towels provided. Allow ten minutes after your course if you plan to shower before leaving.

Clothing and coverage

Undress to your comfort level in the privacy of the treatment room. A towel covers you throughout and is moved only to expose the area being worked. Say at any point if you would like more coverage.

Which length

Forty minutes covers back and shoulders only. Seventy minutes is the first length that reaches the whole body comfortably. Ninety is the balance most guests settle on. One hundred and twenty leaves room to spend extra time wherever you name at check-in.

Hygiene

Every guest is set up from scratch. This is what that means in practice.

  • Fresh linen, towels and Thai clothing for each guest, changed after every treatment.
  • Laundry washed at high temperature and fully dried before it returns to the rooms.
  • Treatment rooms wiped down and ventilated between guests.
  • Therapists wash and sanitise their hands before and after every session.
  • Oil and lotion dispensed per guest. No open container is shared between rooms.
  • Showers, lockers and slippers cleaned and disinfected daily.
  • Shared floors, door handles and the waiting area disinfected on a regular schedule.

If anything in the room does not look right to you, tell the front desk and we will reset it before we start.

Before you book

Massage is not suitable for everyone on every day. Please tell us at check-in if any of the following apply, so the therapist can adjust the pressure, skip an area, or recommend a different course.

  • Pregnancy. Tell us before booking. We avoid abdominal work, deep pressure and certain essential oils, and we do not recommend treatment during the first trimester.
  • Recent surgery, fractures or acute injury. Please wait until your doctor clears you.
  • Open wounds, skin infections or contagious skin conditions.
  • Fever, flu or any acute illness.
  • Alcohol. We cannot treat guests who are visibly intoxicated. Massage after drinking raises the risk of dizziness and nausea.
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or a history of thrombosis, DVT or severe varicose veins.
  • Osteoporosis, herniated disc, or spinal conditions. Stretching and deep pressure will be reduced or skipped.
  • Diabetes with reduced sensation, or any condition affecting how you feel pressure.
  • Cancer treatment, past or present. Please consult your doctor first.
  • Allergies to nuts or essential oils. Relevant for aroma courses, which use a plant oil base.

Massage here is for relaxation and comfort, not medical treatment. If you are unsure whether it is safe for you, ask your doctor before booking.

Questions guests ask

Do I need to undress completely for an aroma oil massage?

No. Undress to whatever level you are comfortable with, in the privacy of the room. You stay covered by a towel throughout and only the area being worked is uncovered.

Can I shower after the massage?

Yes. Separate shower rooms for men and women are free to use, with towels provided. Allow about ten minutes.

What oil do you use?

A plant oil base with an aroma blend. Tell us about nut allergies, sensitive skin, pregnancy or scent preferences at check-in and we will adjust or switch to unscented oil.

Which is better for stress, Thai or aroma?

Aroma oil massage is usually the calmer of the two. Thai massage is firmer and more physical. Guests who want to sleep afterwards tend to prefer aroma.

Is aroma massage available for two people together?

Yes. Couple rooms take two guests at the same time, and connected rooms take three or more.
